The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reaffirmed its strict policy against the use of awaiting results for Direct Entry (DE) admissions. In a recent statement, the board emphasized that it will not process or consider any 2024 DE application marked as “awaiting result” (AR).
This directive specifically targets candidates who registered for the 2024 DE admission using IJMB or JUPEB but have not yet uploaded their results. According to JAMB, these candidates must visit an approved CBT centre and upload their results as soon as they are released — or risk immediate disqualification.
JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, Ph.D., made it clear that the board will not compromise on result verification. “No candidate will be considered for admission without uploaded and verified credentials,” he stated.
The board likened this policy to the long-standing rule applied to UTME candidates, where results must be available at the point of processing for admission. Applications that remain on “awaiting result” status will automatically be rejected.
Furthermore, JAMB urged candidates planning to apply for the 2025 DE to learn from the current situation and be proactive about uploading their results once released. This, the board said, will help them avoid being disqualified and boost their chances of being admitted.
In conclusion, JAMB reiterated that failure to comply with this policy will lead to missed admission opportunities — regardless of how qualified a candidate may be.
