BREAKING NEWS: JAMB Announces 2025 Registration Date, Sets New Minimum Age Requirement

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially announced the start date for 2025 UTME registration, along with a major update on age eligibility. According to the latest information, registration will begin on January 14, 2025, and continue until February 17, 2025. This means students who wish to gain admission into universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education across Nigeria have a little over a month to complete the process.

In a landmark decision, JAMB has also confirmed that starting from 2025, only candidates 16 years and older will be eligible to register. This new age limit aims to better prepare candidates for the academic and social demands of higher education. Here’s a rundown of everything you need to know to be fully prepared for this registration period:

What the New Age Policy Means for Candidates

This age policy marks a significant shift from previous years, where candidates as young as 16 could register. Now, students must be at least 16 years old to qualify for the 2025 UTME. JAMB believes this policy will encourage maturity and readiness in candidates, equipping them to handle the rigor and independence of tertiary institutions more effectively.

Candidates who do not meet the age requirement are advised to explore other educational or preparatory programs until they reach the qualifying age.

Step-by-Step Guide for a Smooth Registration

JAMB has provided a comprehensive registration process to make things easier for candidates. All registrations must take place at accredited JAMB CBT centers, and candidates are advised to avoid non-approved centers to prevent complications. Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Visit an Approved CBT Center: Locate a nearby accredited CBT center. A full list is available on the JAMB website.
  2. Prepare Required Documents: Candidates must present their NIN, a valid email address, and a phone number.
  3. Complete Biometric Capture: JAMB will take biometric information during registration to ensure authenticity.
  4. Pay the Registration Fee: The fee can be paid at the CBT center, and candidates will receive their e-PIN and profile codes via SMS or email.
  5. Download the JAMB e-Syllabus: After registering, students are encouraged to access the JAMB e-syllabus and past questions to guide their study plan.

Subject: Petition Against Destiny CBT Centre, Ayobo, Lagos State, for Failure to Conduct JAMB Mock Examination

    Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to formally lodge a complaint against Destiny CBT Centre, located at 1-4 Ramat Isuman Crescent, Golden Block Junction, Olorunishola, Ayobo, Lagos State, concerning their failure to conduct the JAMB Mock Examination as scheduled.

A candidate who was duly registered for the mock exam arrived at the said center on the designated date and time, in full compliance with the guidelines provided by JAMB. To their utmost disappointment, the exam was not conducted at the center without any prior notice, explanation, or arrangement for a reschedule. This caused undue stress, emotional distress, and financial loss (considering the transportation and other logistics involved).

Such negligence and lack of organization by an accredited JAMB center is unacceptable, as it undermines the integrity of the examination process and the confidence of candidates in the system.

    We hereby urge JAMB to:

    1. Investigate the reasons for the failure to conduct the exam at Destiny CBT Centre.

    2. Sanction the center accordingly if found guilty of negligence or misconduct.

    3. Ensure affected candidates are given another opportunity to participate in the mock exam or are duly compensated.

    4. Put in place better monitoring and feedback systems to prevent a recurrence of such incidents in the future.

We trust in JAMB’s commitment to fairness and excellence in examination conduct and look forward to a swift response on this matter.

    Yours faithfully,
    [YUSUF].
