JAMB Advises Candidate on Retrieving Registration Mobile Number for UTME Profile Code

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has clarified that candidates cannot swap their registration mobile numbers when trying to generate a profile code for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). This clarification was issued in response to a query from a candidate, @ruth_abiks, on JAMB’s official Twitter handle (@JAMBHQ).

The candidate had raised concerns about her inability to retrieve the mobile number used to generate her JAMB profile code in 2021 after making corrections to her National Identification Number (NIN). In her tweet, she asked whether her updated NIN details could be synchronized with JAMB without requiring the old phone number.

In response, JAMB stated unequivocally:

This means that candidates who have lost access to their previously registered phone numbers must retrieve them to proceed with UTME registration. The phone number used during initial registration is critical, as it is tied to the candidate’s JAMB profile code and other related information.

JAMB has consistently emphasized the importance of keeping registration details, especially mobile numbers, secure and accessible. The profile code serves as a unique identifier for every candidate and is linked directly to their mobile number and NIN.

For candidates facing similar issues, JAMB recommends visiting their mobile network provider to retrieve their old SIM cards or numbers. This process is essential to ensure smooth UTME registration and data synchronization.
