A Nigerian girl who scored 289 in the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculations Examination (UTME) has been awarded a scholarship worth N500,000 annually to support her university education.
Despite narrowly missing a promised full scholarship for scoring 300, the girl’s impressive performance caught the attention of a generous donor. The scholarship was announced by education promoter Alex Onyia, who shared the heartwarming story on X (formerly Twitter).
According to Onyia, the anonymous donor pledged N500,000 annually towards the girl’s education. “This act of kindness nearly brought me to tears,” Onyia wrote. “The donor has chosen to remain anonymous.”
