Bauchi Government Rewards Top JAMB Candidates with N4 Million

The Bauchi State Government has awarded N4 million in cash to four outstanding indigenes who achieved the highest scores in the 2024 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination. Governor Bala Mohammed, represented by the State Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Yehuza Adamu, presented the awards in Bauchi on Tuesday.

Each student received N1 million as part of the state’s initiative to encourage academic excellence and support their pursuit of higher education. Speaking at the event, the governor emphasized the importance of human capital development as a cornerstone of societal progress.

“Education is the antidote to development. If you want to destroy a generation or a nation, destroy their education system,” he said. “This government has prioritized education to ensure that our youths are equipped for the future. If someone can score 348 in JAMB from Bauchi, it shows our education system is working.”

Governor Mohammed highlighted the state’s commitment to nurturing talent and urged the Ministry of Education to continue identifying and supporting high-achieving students. “Let’s strive to have more students scoring above 300 in JAMB, so that tomorrow, Bauchi State will be known for excellence in education,” he added.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Alhaji Ali Babayo, commended the governor’s dedication to education. He explained that the ministry had collaborated with JAMB to identify the top-performing candidates from the state, naming the recipients as Kawthar Shehu (348), Geoffrey Yakubu (347), Abdullahi Garba (347), and Magaji Umar (333).

Babayo noted that the gesture aims to inspire other students to excel, particularly those preparing for the next JAMB examination.
