The Sokoto State Government has announced a free JAMB/UTME and Direct Entry (DE) registration program for underprivileged students in the state ahead of the 2025/2026 academic session. This initiative, approved by Governor Ahmad Aliyu, is part of his administration’s 9-point agenda aimed at improving access to education for financially disadvantaged students.
Governor’s Commitment to Education
In a statement released on Friday, the Commissioner for Higher Education, Professor Isa Muhammad Maishanu, emphasized the governor’s dedication to easing the financial burden on families struggling to afford JAMB registration. In addition to covering the registration form fees, the government will also pay for the online registration process for all beneficiaries.
“This initiative is aimed at helping indigent students gain admission into universities and other tertiary institutions across the country,” said Professor Maishanu.
How Beneficiaries Can Apply
To ensure fairness and efficiency, the free JAMB registration PINs will be distributed at the 23 Local Government Secretariats across Sokoto State.
Eligible students must:
- Visit their Local Government Secretariat to collect and complete the necessary registration forms.
- Generate a JAMB Profile Code by texting: NIN (space) followed by their 11-digit National Identification Number (NIN) to 55019.
- Meet the academic requirement of at least five credits, including Mathematics and English, in their Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).
The State Ministry for Higher Education will oversee the distribution process to prevent any irregularities and ensure that only deserving students benefit from the program.
Encouragement for Beneficiaries
The Ministry has urged all selected students to take full advantage of this opportunity by studying diligently to excel in their JAMB examinations and secure admission into higher institutions.
This initiative reaffirms Governor Ahmad Aliyu’s commitment to education as a key driver for development in Sokoto State and aims to bridge the gap for students facing financial constraints.
