JAMB Releases 2025 UTME and Direct Entry Registration Requirements

As the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) registration officially begins on Monday, February 3, 2025, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has outlined the key requirements that candidates must meet before registering for the exam.

According to JAMB, every candidate must possess a valid National Identification Number (NIN), which is now mandatory for UTME and DE registration. Candidates are required to generate a JAMB Profile Code by sending an SMS with “NIN [space] 11-digit NIN number” to 55019 or 66019. This code will be used to purchase the JAMB ePIN from authorized banks, online platforms, and USSD services before proceeding to any JAMB-accredited CBT centre for registration.

Candidates applying for UTME must have a minimum of five (5) credit passes in their O’Level results (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or GCE), including Mathematics and English Language, in not more than two sittings. Those using awaiting results can apply but must upload their results before admission processing begins.

For Direct Entry (DE) candidates, JAMB has specified that applicants must possess an ND, NCE, IJMB, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution. Additionally, candidates must provide their academic transcripts and other supporting documents to validate their eligibility.

JAMB has also confirmed that the 2025 registration fee remains ₦7,200 for UTME (without Mock-UTME), ₦8,200 for UTME (with Mock-UTME), and ₦5,700 for Direct Entry (DE) registration.

The board has advised all candidates to complete their registration only at JAMB-accredited CBT centres to avoid fraudulent registration services. Candidates are also required to obtain and study “The Lekki Headmaster” by Kabir Alabi Garba, the official JAMB 2025 recommended novel for the Use of English exam.

JAMB has emphasized that early registration is crucial to avoid technical issues and delays. Candidates will be able to reprint their exam slips starting from April 18, 2025, to check their exam date, time, and venue. The Mock-UTME is scheduled for April 5, 2025, while the main UTME will be conducted between April 25 and May 5, 2025.

Candidates and parents are encouraged to visit the official JAMB website for further information and updates.
