JAMB Candidate Alleges Bribery at CBT Centre Amid 2025 Registration Process

In a comment posted on jamb2025.com on February 6, 2025, a candidate identified as Emmanuella expressed frustration over alleged unfair treatment at a CBT centre. She claimed that officials were collecting ₦15,000 from certain candidates to allow them to skip the queue, while she and her sister, who had arrived at 7:15 a.m., were still waiting.

Candidate’s Complaint

Emmanuella wrote:
“The CBT centre I’m currently registering at, the officials are collecting ₦15,000 from some candidates to bypass long queues. My sister and I have been here since 7:15 a.m., and these candidates who are paying ₦15,000 are just arriving late and getting registered immediately. It’s not fair because a lot of us are coming from far places and we’ve been sitting here.”

JAMB’s Stand Against Extortion

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has consistently warned CBT centres against extorting candidates. The Board has emphasized that all registration processes must follow approved guidelines and that candidates should not be required to pay any additional or unofficial fees.

JAMB recently suspended two CBT centres in Yobe and Benue States over procedural breaches and has vowed to take similar actions against any centre involved in malpractices, extortion, or other unethical activities.

Call for Action

Affected candidates are encouraged to report such incidents directly to JAMB through its official complaint channels. They can:

  • Call JAMB Support: 0700-JAMB-HELP
  • Email JAMB: [email protected]
  • Visit the nearest JAMB Office to file a complaint

JAMB has urged all candidates to remain patient and only register at approved CBT centres to avoid being scammed or exploited. The Board reassured students that measures are in place to ensure a fair and transparent registration process.

This development highlights the ongoing challenges faced by candidates during UTME registration and the need for strict enforcement of JAMB’s policies to prevent exploitation at accredited CBT centres.
