The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Ishaq Oloyede, has called on Nigerians to remain united and work together towards the growth and development of the nation.
Oloyede made this appeal while speaking at the 15th Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Graduates Association (UNIFEMGA) National Honour’s Day Programme, held in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Saturday. Themed “Nigeria’s Economic Reforms: Mitigating the Challenges through Sustainable Economic Measures,” the event brought together experts and stakeholders to discuss ways to enhance national progress.
The Importance of Unity for Growth
Oloyede emphasized that unity drives prosperity, noting that Nigerians must put aside differences and collaborate for national progress. He urged individuals who share common values and faith to contribute positively to society.
Additionally, Oloyede encouraged the wealthy and influential members of society to always remember the less privileged, emphasizing that a society thrives when everyone is supported.
Call for Philanthropy and Good Deeds
Speaking on the importance of generosity, Professor Yusuf Ali (SAN), a renowned legal expert, highlighted that helping others should be a common practice among Nigerians. He pointed out that many successful individuals started from humble beginnings and are now in a position to give back to society.
He further encouraged parents to instill the habit of assisting the needy in their children, stressing that societal progress depends on a collective sense of responsibility.
Embracing Digital Transformation for Economic Growth
In his lecture, Professor Musa Aibinu, Vice Chancellor of Summit University, Offa, stressed the need for digital knowledge adoption to enhance economic growth. He advocated for a shift from certificate-based education to skill-based learning, which would ensure self-reliance and economic stability.
He further encouraged knowledge sharing and the integration of emerging technology as necessary steps toward national progress.

During the event, several individuals were honored for their contributions to human development. Among the awardees were Associate Professor Barakat Raji and Engineer Rahman Amao, who expressed gratitude and affirmed their commitment to making a difference in their respective fields.
