In a bid to promote education and support underprivileged students in Kaduna State, the Balarabe Abbas Lawal Foundation, led by the Minister of Environment, Mallam Balarabe Abbas Lawal, has sponsored 1,000 students for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The initiative aims to assist financially disadvantaged students from various secondary schools across the state who might not have been able to afford the mandatory JAMB registration fees. This sponsorship is part of the Minister’s broader commitment to empowering youths through education.

Sponsorship and Registration Process

Reports from various JAMB-accredited CBT centres, including the Federal College of Education (FCE) Zaria and Anchau in Kubua Local Government Area, confirm that numerous secondary school students were seen undergoing their registration and biometric thumbprinting.

Speaking to journalists, Mallam Halilu Hassan, the program coordinator, highlighted that this initiative follows a recent scholarship program where the foundation covered tuition fees for students in tertiary institutions across Kaduna State.

“This gesture by our hardworking Minister aligns with his commitment to ensuring that no child is denied access to education due to financial difficulties. We will also visit Kaduna and Kafanchan centres, as the registration exercise is taking place in multiple zones,” Hassan stated.

Encouragement to Students

Another coordinator, Umar Yahaya, urged the beneficiaries to take their studies seriously, emphasizing that success in the UTME could open doors for higher education opportunities.

“The Minister is passionate about education. As you can see, these students are excited and grateful for this opportunity. They must now work hard to justify this investment in their future,” he added.

Gratitude from Beneficiaries

Several students from Zone 1 secondary schools expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the Minister’s intervention, acknowledging that this initiative has eased their financial burden and provided them with a fair chance at higher education.

Commitment to Educational Advancement

This initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision of improving education accessibility and ensuring that more Nigerian youths have the opportunity to further their studies.

The Balarabe Abbas Lawal Foundation continues to demonstrate its dedication to educational development, and with such support, more students will have the chance to pursue their academic dreams without financial constraints.
