A federal lawmaker in Taraba State, Hon. Sadiq Abbas, has demonstrated his support for Governor Agbu Kefas’ free education policy by sponsoring the JAMB registration of 300 students from his constituency.
The initiative, which aims to ease financial burdens on students pursuing higher education, was officially launched on Sunday at Taraba Motel in Jalingo, the state capital.
During the event, Abbas, who represents Jalingo/Yoro/Zing federal constituency, was represented by Hon. Abdulnaseer Boboji, a former chairman of Jalingo Local Government Council. He encouraged the beneficiaries to take their education seriously, emphasizing that an educated society is the foundation of development and peace.
Commitment to Free Education in Taraba
Reaffirming his dedication to supporting Governor Kefas’ free education policy, Abbas stated that education remains the key to Taraba’s development.
“At this time, God has granted us the opportunity to be at the helm of leadership in Taraba. We will ensure that education takes center stage. The governor’s quest for free education must be supported by all means. We will ensure that these students have access to tertiary education opportunities. We are investing in the future of our constituency and Taraba State as a whole,” he said.
Beneficiaries from Three LGAs
The sponsored students cut across the three local government areas in his constituency:
- Jalingo
- Yoro
- Zing
With this gesture, Abbas joins other stakeholders in Taraba State in expanding access to higher education, aligning with the state government’s commitment to free and quality learning opportunities.
