JAMB 2025: 90% of Mock Examination Towns Fully Booked, Selection Based on Candidate’s Choice

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that 90% of the available slots for the optional mock examination have been filled, emphasizing that candidates are solely responsible for selecting their preferred examination towns.

JAMB Spokesman, Fabian Benjamin, made this clarification following observations that many candidates were strategically selecting towns to increase their chances of securing a mock exam slot, only to later complain about being assigned to distant locations.

Limited Slots Remaining in Select States

With most states fully booked for the optional mock UTME, the only states with available slots are:

  • Gombe
  • Jigawa
  • Kano
  • Katsina
  • Kebbi
  • Plateau
  • Sokoto
  • Taraba
  • Yobe

JAMB encouraged candidates who are still interested in taking the mock exam to select their towns accordingly, as no further allocations will be made in fully booked locations.

Candidates Responsible for Their Exam Town Selections

JAMB warned candidates against making impulsive selections and later blaming the Board for being assigned to far-off towns.

“Candidates have the right to choose their preferred examination town, but they must consider the implications. Some may pick locations far from their homes, possibly outside their state, and the Board will not be held responsible for such decisions.”

Mock Exam Meant for CBT Familiarization, Not Compulsory

JAMB reiterated that the mock examination is not mandatory but serves to familiarize candidates with the Computer-Based Test (CBT) environment while also allowing JAMB to test its exam facilities.

“The Board does not want to be overstressed. The mock exam is simply an opportunity for deserving candidates to experience the CBT format before the main UTME. Candidates should consciously choose their exam towns while considering travel logistics and convenience for a smoother experience on exam day.”

With most mock exam slots nearing full capacity, JAMB has urged candidates to finalize their selections promptly, as no additional spaces will be created in fully booked examination towns.
