Why I Distributed Free JAMB Forms and Launched Additional Bus Ride for My Constituents – Hon. Femi Saheed

Hon. Obafemi Saheed, the lawmaker representing Kosofe 2 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, has explained the rationale behind his distribution of 500 free Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms to his constituents. Speaking at the 3rd Edition of the Free JAMB Forms Distribution Exercise held in the Agiliti-Mile 12 area of Lagos on Thursday, Saheed emphasized that education is the most effective form of empowerment. He noted that when people are empowered through education, society as a whole benefits and thrives.

Saheed revealed that the goal of distributing the JAMB forms was to equip his constituents, especially the youth, to compete favorably in society and to pursue higher education. The beneficiaries were selected according to the criteria set by JAMB, and Saheed proudly highlighted that previous beneficiaries of the free JAMB forms were now excelling in various universities across the country.

The lawmaker also mentioned that in addition to supporting the students with free JAMB forms, he had awarded scholarships to those who had excelled academically, including students who became trained lawyers at Lagos State University (LASU). “We need doctors, engineers, and ICT experts, and education is the foundation to make that possible,” Saheed said, stressing the importance of investing in the younger generation.

Saheed further shared that as part of his ongoing support for students, he was launching a new long Marcopollo bus to supplement the existing buses that have been commuting students to school for the past four years. The beneficiaries of the JAMB forms would also receive transportation to the registration center on the same day.

In his speech, Saheed also highlighted the state government’s plan to establish a Lagos State University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, which would contribute to the production of more medical doctors in the future. He encouraged the students to study hard for their JAMB exams, emphasizing that education is the key to success and achieving greatness in life.

Parents of the beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for Saheed’s initiative. Timothy Olalekan, a parent, praised the lawmaker for his commitment to improving the lives of constituents, while Mrs. Mojisola Azeez thanked him for providing her son with the opportunity to register for the exam, as she could not afford the form.

Saheed’s efforts are a testament to his unwavering commitment to improving education and empowering his constituency.
