The Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Chairman, Valentine Buraimoh, has taken a significant step towards enhancing education in the community by donating ultramodern school furniture to public primary schools and distributing Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms to students.
Commitment to Quality Education
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Buraimoh emphasized that the initiative aligns with the council’s vision of promoting education by creating a conducive learning environment for students.
“We are providing this so that our children can study in a conducive atmosphere. We also gave all our common entrance pupils past questions and placed eight of them on scholarship throughout their secondary education,” he stated.
Buraimoh highlighted the local government’s collaboration with the education secretary to ensure that schools in the area maintain high academic standards. He also reiterated the council’s commitment to improving adult education, ensuring that education reaches every segment of the population.
Encouraging Proper Utilization of Resources
The chairman urged school managements to take proper care of the donated furniture and make the most of the educational support provided.
The Director of Education, Amuwo-Odofin, Mr. Idowu Banjoko, commended Buraimoh’s dedication to education, describing him as a leader who values academic development.
“Our chairman is passionate about quality education and is committed to the all-round development of pupils in the council. When the society is educated, it progresses,” Banjoko said.
Appreciation from School Leaders
Expressing gratitude on behalf of school heads, Mrs. Daramoke Funmilayo, Head Teacher of 152 Road Nursery and Primary School, FESTAC, applauded the chairman’s efforts in replacing outdated furniture with modern ones.
“On behalf of other Head Teachers in the council, we are grateful to the chairman. He is replacing the old models with new ones,” she said.
This initiative underscores the Amuwo-Odofin Local Government’s commitment to ensuring students and schools have the necessary resources to excel, further strengthening the educational sector in the community.
