Lukman Abiodun Olawale, a graduate of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), has achieved remarkable academic success by earning a first-class honors degree in Physics Energy, with an impressive CGPA of 4.62/5.0.
A Journey of Self-Motivation and Perseverance
In an interview with Legit.ng, Olawale reflected on his academic journey, highlighting the importance of self-motivation and dedication. He emphasized his commitment to academic integrity, stating that he achieved his success without engaging in any form of examination malpractice.
“My academic journey has been marked by self-motivation, dedication, and perseverance. Everything I have achieved is the result of hard work, patience, and a deep curiosity to understand the world around me,” he shared.
Olawale’s proactive approach in the classroom involved actively engaging with new concepts and striving to understand at least 60% of the material during lectures. He believes that academic excellence is attainable through hard work and curiosity, rather than innate genius.
Balancing Academics with Extracurricular Activities
To maintain a well-rounded lifestyle, Olawale participated in various extracurricular activities, including playing football, chess, Ludo, drafts, and video games. These activities provided a balance to his rigorous academic schedule and contributed to his overall well-being.
Overcoming Financial Hardships
Despite his achievements, Olawale faced significant financial challenges during his third year at FUTA. He recounted periods of severe financial struggle, lacking funds for basic necessities such as food and transportation, which led to health issues like ulcers. During these trying times, he contemplated quitting school.
“I faced severe financial struggles, with no money for transport or food. This led to me developing an ulcer from hunger, and for a moment, I even considered quitting school,” he revealed.
Support from family and friends played a crucial role in helping him navigate these challenges, enabling him to continue his education and achieve his goals.
Future Aspirations
Looking ahead, Olawale aspires to become a researcher in Climate Science or Quantum Science, aiming to make meaningful contributions to these fields. His journey serves as an inspiration to students facing similar challenges, demonstrating that resilience, dedication, and support can lead to exceptional achievements.
