In a remarkable effort to promote education and support underprivileged students, the Dr. Kester Awani Foundation has sponsored 21 candidates for the 2025 JAMB UTME through its Educate 365 Initiative. This sponsorship aims to help students who are academically capable but face financial constraints in registering for the crucial exam that determines their admission into Nigerian universities.
Selection Process and Inclusivity
The selection of beneficiaries was carried out through a rigorous screening process overseen by Prof. Mary Olire Edema. Out of the applicants, 18 candidates were chosen from the Awani Edo family and the Ajamimogha community, while three additional candidates were selected on compassionate grounds, bringing the total number of sponsored students to 21.
This initiative is part of the foundation’s ongoing mission to empower young scholars by providing them with opportunities to further their education despite economic challenges.
Impact on the Community
The sponsorship has been widely praised by community leaders and beneficiaries. Olora Aja Pa James Awani and Olori Ebi Ambassador Charles O. Awani expressed their gratitude for the foundation’s generosity, emphasizing that such initiatives contribute significantly to human capital development in the region.
They also called for more support and expansion of the program to accommodate more students in future editions, recognizing the positive impact education has on individuals and society at large.
A Commitment to Educational Empowerment
Speaking on the initiative, Dr. Kester Awani reaffirmed the foundation’s dedication to bridging educational gaps by supporting students with great academic potential but limited financial means. He stressed that education remains the key to unlocking opportunities and transforming lives.
Similarly, Prof. Edema highlighted the significance of providing these young minds with the resources they need to succeed. She noted that such programs are crucial in shaping the future of many ambitious youths who might otherwise be unable to afford registration for JAMB.
Beneficiaries Express Gratitude
The sponsored students have expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the foundation’s support. Many shared how financial difficulties had nearly forced them to miss this year’s JAMB registration, but with the Awani Foundation’s intervention, they now have the chance to compete for admission into tertiary institutions.
As the 2025 JAMB UTME approaches, these students are determined to make the most of this opportunity, study hard, and succeed in their examinations.
This initiative by the Awani Foundation serves as a shining example of how private individuals and organizations can play a role in educational empowerment, ensuring that bright and ambitious students are not denied opportunities due to financial hardship.
