Kaduna, Nigeria – March 19, 2025 – The Federal Cooperative College (FCC), Kaduna, has reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to enhance the admission process and ensure compliance with established guidelines.
This assurance was made by the newly appointed Provost of FCC, Dr. Ibrahim Auwal, during an interactive session with the Acting Zonal Director of JAMB’s Headquarters Annexe, Kaduna, Mr. Bello Hausawa Aminu, on March 10, 2025.
During the meeting, Dr. Auwal praised JAMB for its technological innovations, which have significantly improved Nigeria’s tertiary admission system. He commended the Board’s efforts in leveraging technology to solve admission-related challenges and pledged that FCC Kaduna would continue to adhere to all JAMB policies and regulations.
JAMB Stresses the Importance of CAPS and IBASS in Admission Processing
In response, Mr. Aminu highlighted the importance of JAMB’s Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) and the Integrated Brochure and Syllabus System (IBASS) in managing tertiary admissions.
He explained that these platforms serve as critical tools for ensuring transparency, monitoring academic programs, and facilitating seamless communication between tertiary institutions, students, and JAMB.
The Acting Zonal Director reiterated JAMB’s strict policy against illegal admissions, stating that:
- All admissions must go through CAPS to maintain credibility and transparency.
- No institution has the authority to admit students outside of JAMB’s official process.
- Unauthorized admissions violate JAMB’s operational guidelines and will not be recognized.
He warned institutions against offering non-accredited courses, stressing that such actions could have serious consequences for both the institution and the unsuspecting students who enroll in those programs.
Institutions Must Prioritize Prompt Processing of Indemnity Forms
Addressing another major concern, Mr. Aminu urged FCC Kaduna to ensure the prompt processing of indemnity forms for students seeking JAMB-related services.
He noted that delays in processing these forms often lead to unnecessary anxiety among students, who may mistakenly believe that JAMB has denied or ignored their requests.
To prevent misunderstandings and frustration, he urged institutions to speed up the handling of such requests to provide students with timely responses.
Procedures for Institutional Updates on JAMB’s System
During the meeting, the JAMB official also guided the FCC Kaduna delegation on the correct procedure for updating institutional signatories on JAMB’s platform.
He emphasized the importance of:
- Formally introducing the new Provost to JAMB through the appropriate communication channels.
- Completing and submitting the necessary signatory templates on JAMB’s official portal to ensure seamless administrative operations.
Dr. Auwal, accompanied by FCC Kaduna’s Director of Academic Planning, Dr. Sadiq Suleiman, and Admission Officer, Mr. S.K. Mohammed, assured JAMB of the institution’s full compliance with these directives.
FCC Kaduna and JAMB Strengthen Ties for a Transparent Admission Process
The meeting reaffirmed FCC Kaduna’s commitment to maintaining a transparent and standardized admission process in line with JAMB’s regulations.
With JAMB’s technological advancements and strict policies against irregular admissions, institutions like FCC Kaduna must continue to uphold these guidelines to protect students and maintain the integrity of Nigeria’s tertiary education system.
The collaboration between JAMB and FCC Kaduna is expected to enhance the admission process, ensure compliance with accreditation requirements, and provide students with a fair and transparent entry into higher education.
