2025 UTME: JAMB Uncovers Shocking Data Errors at CBT Centres – Candidates’ Future at Risk!

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has uncovered serious data mismatches at 132 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres across Nigeria, putting the future of affected candidates at risk.

JAMB revealed that 200 candidates were registered with incorrect personal data, a mistake that could jeopardize their chances of sitting for the 2025 UTME. While this number may seem small compared to the 2,030,627 candidates who registered, JAMB insists that no error is acceptable when it comes to a candidate’s academic future.

CBT Centres Sanctioned, Candidates Called for Urgent Data Correction

Following a thorough investigation, JAMB has sanctioned all 132 affected CBT centres and permanently barred the registration officers responsible from participating in any future JAMB registration or examination activities.

The 200 candidates affected by these errors have been invited to JAMB offices for immediate correction of their details. However, JAMB made it clear that candidates also have a role to play in ensuring their data is entered correctly at registration centres.

The Board warned all CBT centres that similar mistakes will no longer be tolerated, as they can cause serious complications for candidates, including the possibility of being disqualified from the UTME.

States with the Highest Number of Affected Centres

JAMB listed the states where the sanctioned CBT centres are located, with some states having more affected centres than others.

  • Lagos – 20 centres (Highest number of affected centres)
  • Ogun – 15 centres
  • Enugu – 11 centres
  • Benue – 8 centres
  • Nasarawa – 6 centres
  • Rivers – 6 centres
  • FCT (Abuja) – 6 centres
  • Oyo – 6 centres
  • Delta – 5 centres
  • Osun – 5 centres
  • Taraba – 5 centres
  • Other states have between 1 and 4 affected centres.

JAMB warned these centres that any future occurrence of data mismatches could result in the complete revocation of their accreditation.

Candidates Must Double-Check Their Details – One Mistake Can Ruin Everything!

JAMB has strongly advised all candidates who are yet to write their UTME to carefully verify their registration details before it’s too late.

“Even one small error—whether in your name, date of birth, subject combination, or institution choice—can cost you your admission,” JAMB warned.

Candidates must ensure they double-check their information at the point of registration, as JAMB may not always be able to correct errors caused by negligence after registration closes.

JAMB’s Zero Tolerance for Errors and Malpractices

JAMB reiterated that all CBT centres must uphold strict data accuracy standards to protect the integrity of the UTME.

The Board urged candidates to use only accredited CBT centres for registration and to be vigilant when confirming their details.

JAMB reminded all institutions, exam officers, and candidates that a single mistake could mean the difference between securing admission and losing an entire academic year.

With weeks left until the 2025 UTME, affected candidates must act quickly to fix their data, and all others must take extra care to ensure their registration details are error-free.

JAMB has assured the public that it remains committed to ensuring fairness and accuracy in the admission process, and all necessary measures will be taken to hold CBT centres accountable for any lapses.
