Mock UTME 2025: JAMB Disburses ₦397 Million in Transport Allowances to Officials

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has disbursed a total of ₦397,030,900 as transport allowances to 1,909 officials participating in the 2025 Mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, scheduled to hold on April 10, 2025.

This was disclosed by JAMB’s Director of Finance, Mr. Mufutau Bello, during a review meeting held in Abuja to assess the board’s readiness for both the mock exam and the main UTME.

According to Bello, the payment represents the first phase of disbursements, covering one-third of the total officials involved. He emphasized the importance of the mock exam in upholding the credibility and integrity of Nigeria’s education system.

“The Mock UTME is a key phase in fulfilling our core mandate. The success of this exercise is crucial not only to the integrity of our education system but also to the national reputation of our examination processes. Any lapses could undermine public confidence,” Bello stated.

He added that the logistics required to organize the nationwide exercise are complex, and the transport allowances are part of JAMB’s efforts to ensure a smooth and efficient operation.

In response, JAMB staff expressed their commitment to ensuring a seamless conduct of both the mock and main UTME exams across the country, while addressing concerns related to local travel allowances. They noted that misunderstandings about such allowances are often due to the intricate planning and logistics involved in managing examinations on a national scale.
