While the JAMB 2025 Mock Examination proceeded smoothly in most parts of Nigeria today, the situation was different at Delta State University (DELSU), Electronics Examination Centre 1, Campus 3, Abraka, where candidates were left stranded as the exam failed to commence hours after the scheduled time.
One of the candidates at the centre, Agoha Emeka, who arrived as early as 7:00 AM, reported that as of 10:28 AM, the mock exam had not started, and no official had addressed the students.
“It’s 10:28 AM at Delta State University Electronics Examination Center 1, Campus 3, Abraka, and the mock exams have not started. No official is giving the candidates any updates or situational reports,” Emeka said.
“The candidates who have been here since 7:00 AM are left roaming about without any guidance. Different speculations are that the biometrics are not working, because they have not accredited any of the candidates.”
The delay and lack of communication have caused widespread confusion among students at the centre. Many expressed frustration over the hours spent waiting without any explanation or update from exam officials.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) had earlier advised all candidates to arrive at their centres early and ensure they bring only their printed mock exam slips. However, in this case, even early arrival did not help, as candidates were not given direction or a timeline for when the exam would begin.
Across other parts of the country, the mock exam — meant to help candidates practice ahead of the main UTME — started in most centres between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM with only minor delays reported.
The board is yet to release an official statement regarding the situation at DELSU Abraka, but affected candidates are calling for better coordination and improved communication at future exams.

I’m a parent even in Conarina Marine Academy Oria Abraka, still experiencing delay.
Writing mock at the jamb centre in kogi state, Lokoja was a very good experience. We were already sitting with our computers on, few minutes past 8. Everything was successful. No issue of biometric failure, no computer shut down, everything went on smoothly
