A JAMB 2025 mock candidate, Basit, has described a disturbing scene at his exam centre where students waited for hours without writing their exams — until parents forcefully opened the gates and asked everyone to leave.
“The mock centre I went to today was very frustrating. We stood there for hours and were still not able to write our exams. It got to the point where parents had to open the gate with full force and tell all the students to come outside around 1 PM,” he shared.
According to Basit, the exam was scheduled for earlier in the day, but candidates were left standing outside without any proper information, shelter, or updates from the centre’s staff.
By 1 PM, when it became clear that no meaningful action was being taken, concerned parents stepped in, fearing for the safety and well-being of their children.
Rising Tension Over Poorly Managed CBT Centres
Basit’s report adds to the growing number of mock candidates nationwide who experienced mismanagement, delays, and exam cancellation during the April 10 JAMB mock exam.
While the mock exam is not compulsory, it is designed to prepare students for the real UTME. However, many are now expressing disappointment at how some CBT centres treated students on exam day.
A Call for Accountability
Incidents like this raise serious concerns about the readiness of certain JAMB-approved centres to handle the main UTME, which starts on April 25, 2025.
Candidates and parents are urging JAMB to audit and possibly delist centres that failed during the mock exam. For many families, the experience was not just a waste of time and money — it also put students under unnecessary emotional stress.
