A candidate, Nortey Yusuf Ishola, has submitted a formal petition to the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), accusing Destiny CBT Centre in Ayobo, Lagos State, of failing to conduct the 2025 Mock UTME as scheduled.
In the complaint, Yusuf stated that he arrived at the centre — located at 1-4 Ramat Isuman Crescent, Golden Block Junction, Olorunishola, Ayobo — at the correct time on April 10, 2025, but no exam took place, and no official explanation or communication was given.
“A candidate who was duly registered for the mock exam arrived at the said center on the designated date and time, in full compliance with the guidelines provided by JAMB. To their utmost disappointment, the exam was not conducted… without any prior notice, explanation, or arrangement for a reschedule,” the petition reads.
Yusuf expressed concern over the emotional stress and financial loss caused by the situation, especially as the exam was meant to prepare candidates for the upcoming UTME.
A Call for Accountability
In his letter addressed to JAMB Headquarters in Bwari, Abuja, Yusuf urged the Board to:
- Investigate the reasons for the failure
- Sanction the centre if found guilty of negligence
- Provide affected candidates with another opportunity to take the mock
- Improve monitoring of CBT centres to prevent future occurrences
“Such negligence and lack of organization by an accredited JAMB center is unacceptable. It undermines the integrity of the examination process and the confidence of candidates in the system,” he added.
Growing Concerns Across Centres
Destiny CBT Centre is among several centres nationwide that have been reported for poor coordination, long delays, and outright failure to conduct the mock exam on April 10.
Candidates and stakeholders are now calling on JAMB to tighten supervision, especially ahead of the main UTME beginning on April 25, 2025.
