The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially approved a new national cut-off mark for admissions into tertiary institutions for the 2025/2026 academic session. The decision was reached during the Admission Policy Meeting held on Monday, April 14, 2025, in Abuja.
Although JAMB has not yet released the exact figure to the public, sources within the Board confirmed that the new benchmark has been set and will be made public within the coming days.
Final Decision Taken Behind Closed Doors
The policy meeting was attended by heads of public and private universities, polytechnics, monotechnics, and colleges of education, who deliberated extensively before agreeing on the new minimum UTME score required for admission consideration.
Each institution is still allowed to maintain its own internal cut-off marks (as long as they are above the national minimum), but no school will be permitted to go below what was agreed at the meeting.
What Happened Last Year
To recap, the 2024 national minimum cut-off marks were:
- 140 for universities
- 100 for polytechnics and colleges of education
With the growing number of candidates and institutions, the 2025 figures are expected to either maintain or slightly shift to reflect new trends in performance and admission capacity.
Public Announcement Coming
JAMB is expected to release the full breakdown of cut-off marks and institutional admission guidelines shortly before the commencement of the main UTME, which is set to begin on April 25, 2025.
Until then, candidates and school admission officers are advised to monitor JAMB’s official channels and prepare accordingly.

Sir I don’t have my registration slip with me but still have the details can I still get my jamb center without the slip ?
Yes
Sir, why is it that universities don’t follow the cutoff mark?
Universities set different cut-off marks for different courses because some courses are more competitive and have limited spaces. They adjust JAMB’s general minimum to match the demand, available slots, and the quality of applicants for each course.
When will the cut off mark come out
Jamb utme mock did not hold at Bellarks polytechnic, Kwale. It was so heartbreaking 😪
