Ekiti Government Distributes Free JAMB e-PINs to 3,000 Candidates

Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria – The Ekiti State Government has distributed free JAMB e-PINs to 3,000 qualified candidates as part of its continued commitment to educational advancement in the state.

The First Lady of Ekiti State, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, led the distribution of the e-PINs at a flag-off ceremony held at the Lady Jibowu Hall, Government House, Ado-Ekiti. Addressing the beneficiaries, Dr. Oyebanji urged them to prepare diligently for the examination, remain focused, and strive for excellence.

Government’s Commitment to Education

Dr. Oyebanji described the initiative as a reflection of the administration’s unwavering support for youth education. She revealed that N16,627,000 was spent in 2023, N20 million in 2024, and N25,800,000 this year on purchasing e-PINs and covering administrative costs.

She emphasized that education remains the foundation for sustainable development and is key to unlocking the potential of young people.

“Under the visionary leadership of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, we have continued to implement progressive policies to ensure every child in Ekiti State, regardless of background or socio-economic status, has access to quality education,” she stated.

Dr. Oyebanji reaffirmed that the initiative is a demonstration of the government’s belief that no talented and hardworking student should experience setbacks due to financial constraints.

Ongoing Educational Interventions

Beyond JAMB e-PINs, the Ekiti State Government has consistently supported students through various interventions, including:

  • Payment of WAEC examination fees for SS3 students in public secondary schools.
  • Regular release of running grants to all public schools.
  • Capacity-building programs for teachers to enhance teaching and learning.

Governor Biodun Oyebanji has specifically approved N652,798,300 for the payment of 2025 WAEC exam fees, covering administrative charges for 17,859 candidates. Additionally, N200,785,500 has been allocated for public secondary schools and N127,086,000 for private schools per term for the 2024/2025 academic session.

Call to Action for Students

Speaking at the event, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, the Commissioner for Information, encouraged the candidates to study hard and excel in the UTME, making the government proud of its investment in their education.

Similarly, Mr. Dada Oluremi, acting Permanent Secretary, SUBEB, representing Prof. Femi Akinyemi, Chairman of SUBEB, commended the government for its annual assistance. He urged students to justify the resources allocated to them by gaining admission into higher institutions.
