JAMB 2025: Candidate Laments Long Delay and Poor Treatment During Examination

As the 2025 UTME approaches, some candidates are still voicing their frustration over the experiences they faced during the JAMB mock examination held earlier this month.

Ibrahim, one of the candidates, has shared his concerns, highlighting issues such as excessive delays, poor organisation, and technical challenges that affected many students across several centres.

Seven Hours Delay Under Harsh Conditions

Ibrahim explained that his exam was scheduled for 7:00 AM, but candidates at his centre were left waiting for more than seven hours, with the exam not starting until about 2:00 PM.

During this long delay, candidates were reportedly forced to stay under the sun without proper arrangements, rest areas, or communication from the officials.

He noted that despite waiting for such a long time, some candidates were still unable to sit for the examination due to unresolved technical problems at the centre.

Frustration Over Technical Incompetence

The candidate expressed disappointment over what he described as “technical incompetence” by the organisers.
According to him, many of the issues could have been avoided if better planning and technical preparation had been put in place before the exam day.

His experience is one of many similar complaints from candidates who sat for the mock examination.

A Call for Better Treatment of Candidates

Ibrahim’s comments reflect a growing concern among candidates and parents about the need for JAMB and accredited CBT centres to:

  • Improve communication with candidates on exam day,
  • Ensure technical readiness before starting any exam session,
  • Treat candidates with more respect and care,
  • Provide basic facilities like shade, water, and seating for candidates waiting for long periods.

He concluded by saying that the situation could have been more acceptable if candidates were treated better and technical issues were properly addressed ahead of time.

Final Note

As the main 2025 UTME examination is set to start on Thursday, 24th April 2025, candidates are hoping that lessons from the mock examination will help JAMB improve the conduct of the main exams.

Proper organisation, respect for candidates’ time, and technical reliability will be key to ensuring a smoother and more successful examination experience.
