The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reiterated the importance of using a retrievable phone number to generate profile codes for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) registration. The Board emphasized this in response to a candidate’s query on its official X (formerly Twitter) account on January 15, 2025.
JAMB advised candidates to prepare in advance by obtaining their National Identification Number (NIN) and a phone number that has not been previously used for JAMB registration. This measure ensures a seamless process when generating the profile code required for registration.
In response to a specific concern from a candidate who lost their previously registered phone number but retained the prior profile code, JAMB provided guidance. “Kindly retrieve the phone number and use it to refresh the profile code for a new application. If you register with the profile code without refreshing it, you’ll encounter various difficulties later on,” JAMB explained.
The Board’s advisory highlights the critical role of the phone number in accessing JAMB services. Candidates are urged to retrieve lost numbers to avoid complications during registration and subsequent processes.
JAMB encourages candidates to follow these guidelines carefully and stay updated through official channels to ensure a smooth registration experience for the 2025 UTME and DE.
