The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially closed the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration, marking the end of the process that began on February 3, 2025.
By the deadline on March 8, 2025, a total of 2,030,627 candidates successfully registered for the UTME, securing their opportunity to participate in the exam scheduled for April 25, 2025.
Thousands Registered for Mock and Trial Exams
Alongside the main UTME registration, many candidates opted to take part in the optional mock examination, which serves as a practice test before the main exam.
- 200,115 candidates registered for the mock UTME, which is set for April 5, 2025.
- 630 candidates also registered for the trial mock examination, scheduled for the same date.
These mock exams are designed to help candidates familiarize themselves with the computer-based test (CBT) system and reduce anxiety ahead of the main UTME.
Strict Measures to Curb Exam Malpractice
With the UTME registration now closed, JAMB has shifted its focus to ensuring a smooth and fair examination process. The Board has introduced new security measures aimed at deterring examination malpractice and fraud.
These measures have already led to several arrests of candidates attempting to use forged A-level results for admission. The system, designed to detect fraudulent credentials, is part of JAMB’s effort to protect the integrity of the examination and admission process.
What Candidates Should Know Before the Exam
JAMB has strongly advised all registered candidates to:
- Follow examination rules and regulations strictly.
- Avoid all forms of malpractice, as any candidate caught cheating will face severe consequences.
- Prepare adequately for the exam, as UTME is a crucial step toward gaining admission into higher institutions in Nigeria.
With the UTME set to begin on April 25, 2025, candidates are encouraged to use the time wisely, practice past questions, and ensure they are fully prepared for the examination.
