JAMB Introduces New Feature to Assist Candidates with Lost SIM Cards Ahead of 2025 UTME/DE Registration

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a welcome development for prospective candidates who are unable to retrieve their previously used but lost SIM cards. According to an official statement shared via JAMB’s social media handle (@JAMBHQ), a new feature has been introduced at all Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres nationwide to specifically address this issue.

Interested candidates who have lost access to their registered phone numbers are required to visit any accredited CBT centre and fill out a special template. This process aims to verify their identities and link them to their JAMB profiles without needing to perform a SIM Swap—an option that remains currently unavailable.

Key points from JAMB’s announcement include:

  1. New Feature Availability: All CBT centres now offer a dedicated service designed to help candidates who cannot retrieve their former SIM cards.
  2. Mandatory Template: A template must be filled out to authenticate a candidate’s details and confirm their previous JAMB registration records.
  3. SIM Swap Unavailable: JAMB reiterated that a direct SIM Swap option is still not in place, advising candidates to utilize the newly introduced feature instead.
  4. UTME/DE Registration Access: This solution ensures that eligible candidates can continue with their Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) registration without the hurdle of a lost SIM.

For further guidance on the registration process or additional clarifications, candidates are encouraged to visit the official JAMB website, contact the helpdesk, or follow the Board’s social media handles. This proactive measure by JAMB aims to streamline the registration process and ensure that every prospective student has an equitable chance of successfully completing their UTME/DE registration.
