Purpose of the Health Walk

Speaking at the event, JAMB’s Director of Human Resources, Mr. Gani Abdulrahman, explained that the activity was organized to enhance the overall health of staff members as they prepare for the year’s demanding schedule.

“Our work is usually rigorous when we commence the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). It is like fighting a war. We need to be physically, mentally, and emotionally alert throughout the period, and that is why we decided to begin with keeping fit,” Abdulrahman said.

He also highlighted the importance of periodic exercises and revealed plans to reactivate JAMB’s sports club to encourage regular fitness activities among staff.

“This routine will help staff maintain a healthy weight and develop strong immune systems to fight against illnesses,” he added.

Staff Reactions

Participants expressed their appreciation for the initiative, with many noting the benefits of such activities. Mrs. Halima Aliyu, a JAMB staff member, shared that the event provided an opportunity to socialize while encouraging those who struggle to exercise on their own.

“Keeping fit is necessary, especially for workers who get carried away with work and do not pay attention to their health. This initiative not only boosts our health but also allows us to relax and unwind,” Aliyu said.

She thanked the organizers, emphasizing the importance of such events in promoting overall well-being and creating a sense of community among staff.
