JAMB Warns Candidates Against ₦15,700 UTME Rescheduling Scam

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued an urgent warning to 2025 UTME candidates over a fraudulent scheme demanding ₦15,700 to reschedule missed exams.

In an official statement released by JAMB’s Public Communication Adviser, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the Board dissociated itself from scammers who are circulating payment requests with a fake Sterling Bank account under the name:
“Copywriter Personal J Rescheduling FLW Statement”
Account Number: 8520641017

JAMB Says No Payment Is Required for Rescheduling

According to JAMB, the Board does not charge candidates any fee for rescheduling of exams. In fact, rescheduling only applies to a limited number of cases — such as candidates who encountered biometric verification issues on exam day.

“Let it be made clear that JAMB does not and has never requested candidates to pay any fee for rescheduling. Any contrary claim is fake, fraudulent and must be ignored,” Dr. Benjamin said.

He further clarified that candidates who missed their exams due to personal errors, lateness, or misinformation are not eligible for rescheduling. Only those affected by genuine system or biometric failures are considered — and at no cost.

Candidates Urged to Stay Vigilant

JAMB is currently working with security agencies to track down those behind the scam.
The Board has also advised candidates and parents to:

  • Disregard any text or email requesting payment for UTME rescheduling.
  • Report such messages to JAMB or the relevant authorities.
  • Only trust information from official JAMB platforms, including their website and verified social media pages.

Final Note

As the 2025 UTME continues, JAMB remains committed to a transparent and fair examination process. Candidates are encouraged to remain alert, avoid scammers, and rely solely on official communication channels for all updates.
