Abuja, Nigeria – Former Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Prof. Peter Okebukola, has endorsed the leadership style of the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, describing him as the “most accountable and transparent” registrar in the board’s history.
In a statement issued in Abuja, Okebukola commended Oloyede’s unwavering commitment to financial integrity, noting that since assuming office, the JAMB registrar has remained above reproach.
“I have not had the faintest whiff of any financial misdemeanour where Professor Oloyede is concerned. His meticulous approach to budgeting and financial management has ensured that every Naira is accounted for, and all expenditures are judiciously planned and executed,” Okebukola said.
Okebukola, who doubles as Chairman of the JAMB Equal Opportunity Group (JEOG), attributed JAMB’s exemplary standards of financial prudence to Oloyede’s leadership, adding that the board’s model of accountability has become a reference point across Africa.
He further refuted recent allegations surrounding the misapplication of JAMB’s 2025 budget, asserting that they are baseless in light of Oloyede’s proven track record. Okebukola, who has worked closely with Oloyede for seven years in his role as JEOG chairman, maintained that JAMB’s transformative initiatives under Oloyede’s guidance have significantly enhanced the board’s operational efficiency, benefiting millions of prospective students nationwide.
“The transformative initiatives he has implemented have significantly improved the efficiency and effectiveness of JAMB’s operations, benefiting millions of students across Nigeria,” he said. “It is important that as a nation, we support leaders who have shown proven dedication to serving the public good. Professor Ishaq Oloyede remains a paragon of professional excellence.”
Okebukola called on Nigerians to rally behind Oloyede and uphold the values of transparency and accountability in public institutions, stating, “I stand firmly in support of Professor Ishaq Oloyede and his continued efforts to uphold the values of transparency and accountability at JAMB. His leadership has been instrumental in transforming JAMB into a model institution, and I am confident that he will continue to serve with distinction.”
JAMB, under Oloyede, has frequently been commended for its reforms and the introduction of innovative technologies aimed at curbing malpractice and fraud in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
