Unilorin Appoints JAMB Registrar Oloyede, Two Others as Emeritus Professors

The Senate of the University of Ilorin (Unilorin) has approved the appointment of three distinguished retirees, including Prof. Is’haq Oloyede, as Emeritus Professors. This decision was made at the university’s 304th Senate meeting held on Thursday.

In a statement issued by the university’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun, the appointments recognize the exceptional contributions of the retirees to academia and the institution.

The newly appointed Emeritus Professors are:

• Prof. Is’haq Oloyede: A former Vice-Chancellor of Unilorin and the current Registrar and Chief Executive of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). Oloyede retired from Unilorin’s service in October 2024 after a distinguished academic and administrative career.
• Prof. Olu Obafemi: A renowned literary scholar who retired from Unilorin in 2020.
• Prof. Musbau Akanji: A celebrated Biochemistry scholar and former Vice-Chancellor of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, and the Federal University of Technology, Minna. Akanji retired in 2021.

The title of Emeritus Professor is a prestigious honor conferred on retired academics in recognition of their outstanding contributions to research, teaching, and service to the university community.
