The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially commenced the 2025 edition of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) today, Thursday, April 24, across Nigeria.
This year’s examination begins with the 6:30AM session, where thousands of candidates are expected to sit for the first batch of the exam in various accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres nationwide.
According to JAMB, over 1.9 million candidates are scheduled to take part in the 2025 UTME, which will run from April 24 to May 5, 2025.

In a series of announcements leading up to the exam, JAMB reiterated that there will be no rescheduling for any candidate who fails to show up for their scheduled session, regardless of the reason.
Candidates have also been warned not to appear at the exam venue with prohibited items such as mobile phones, calculators, smartwatches, or any unauthorized materials. Only candidates who successfully undergo biometric verification will be allowed to take the exam.
At many centres, biometric screening for the early morning session is expected to begin as early as 5:30AM, with system login to follow shortly after.

JAMB emphasized that it has put measures in place to ensure the smooth conduct of the exam and that any technical issues encountered will be addressed swiftly.
The board also warned candidates against falling victim to false information and urged them to only rely on official channels for updates.
Meanwhile, various educational platforms are expected to provide live updates, feedback from candidates, and memory-based reports as the exam progresses.
The 2025 UTME marks another step in Nigeria’s push for standardized entrance assessment into tertiary institutions, with emphasis on integrity, transparency, and the use of technology.
