Are You Allowed to Use Your JAMB Slip as a Rough Sheet?

Officially, JAMB does not provide separate rough sheets. However, in certain CBT centres, invigilators may permit candidates to use the blank side or edges of their exam slip for rough work — especially when solving math or science questions.

This practice is not universal, though. It depends on the centre and the instructions given by JAMB officials present at that location.

What About the Use of HB Pencils?

JAMB exams are fully computer-based, so candidates don’t need to fill any physical answer sheets. That said, some centres allow the use of a pencil for jotting or working out calculations on the slip — if permitted by invigilators.

While it’s not officially part of JAMB’s standard policy, HB pencils are sometimes allowed as long as they’re not used for anything suspicious and don’t slow down the process.
