JAMB 2025: “CRS Question on Noah’s Ark Had No Correct Answer Option” — Igwe Divine Chimmeka Points Out Error

A JAMB 2025 candidate, Igwe Divine Chimmeka, has raised an important concern after spotting a mistake in one of the Christian Religious Studies (CRS) questions during the UTME.

“There is a question in CRS where they said, ‘After Noah built the ark, God asked him to take how many pairs of animals into the ark.’ The answer is supposed to be two, but it was not included in the options,” he explained.

This kind of mistake can seriously affect candidates’ ability to pick the right answer, even when they know the correct one.

What Happened in the Question?

According to Igwe Divine:

  • The CRS question asked about the number of animal pairs Noah took into the ark.
  • According to the Bible, the correct answer is two pairs — male and female of each animal (Genesis 6:19–20).
  • However, none of the provided answer options contained the correct number.

This left candidates confused, forcing them to either guess or leave the question unanswered.

Why This Is a Serious Concern

  • Candidates who knew the right answer were trapped by wrong options.
  • It punishes knowledge and accuracy — candidates who studied well could still lose marks.
  • It undermines the fairness of the exam because marks could be lost due to errors not caused by candidates.

In a competitive exam like JAMB, even one wrong question can make a big difference in a candidate’s admission chances.

A Call for JAMB to Review and Correct

Igwe Divine’s observation shows why JAMB must:

  • Review complaints and identify wrongly set questions.
  • Award bonus marks or adjust marking for candidates affected by such mistakes.
  • Double-check all questions to ensure accuracy in future exams.

No candidate should lose marks for a mistake they did not make.

Final Words

Igwe Divine Chimmeka’s sharp eye for detail shows the importance of speaking up when things aren’t right.
We hope JAMB will take this and similar reports seriously to protect candidates’ efforts and ensure that the 2025 UTME remains fair, credible, and just.

Stay strong, Divine — your knowledge still shines, and better days are ahead!

  1. I had similar problems in English language and Literature. Some of the questions were not complete. Some were even missing the whole extract. I informed an invigilator and I was told to leave it. I decided to pick any option. But I seriously hope JAMB can review this problem and make our reading count. They should also consider reviewing the questions before marking us wrong.
