A JAMB 2025 candidate, Janet Effiong, has shared her heartbreaking experience after facing serious technical problems during her UTME exam on Thursday morning, first batch.
“My system was just hanging anyhow, and when it finally became steady, I was left with one hour. I tried to manage it across my four subjects. I was able to answer three papers, but when it got to English, I hadn’t even answered up to 15 questions before my system logged me out with 11 minutes still left. I thought the exam was supposed to be two hours complete, not logging people out when time is still left,” she said.
Janet’s experience highlights the hidden struggles that candidates often face due to technical failures that are completely beyond their control.

System Hanging and Unfair Time Loss
According to Janet:
- Her system was hanging repeatedly, wasting precious exam time.
- By the time the system stabilized, she was already left with just one hour to attempt four subjects.
- She barely answered 15 English questions before the system automatically logged her out with 11 minutes still remaining.
This kind of situation not only affects a candidate’s score but also leaves them feeling helpless after months of hard work and preparation.
Why This Is a Serious Problem
- Every candidate deserves the full two hours they are entitled to during UTME.
- Technical failures like hanging systems can cause candidates to lose opportunities to demonstrate their true ability.
- Automatic logout before time is unfair and must be addressed urgently to protect students’ futures.
