JAMB 2025: “Security Personnel Collected ₦500 for Bags, and We Faced Poor Time Management” — Saint-Alice Shares Exam Day Frustrations

A candidate, Saint-Alice, has shared a troubling experience from her JAMB 2025 exam center, where candidates faced extortion, poor organization, and harsh treatment.

“Security personnel were collecting ₦500 from candidates just because of the bags they brought. Poor time management too — candidates had been at the center since 4:30AM, but the exam only started some minutes after 7. The prospect/invigilators were harsh as well,” she said.

Saint-Alice’s story highlights the silent struggles many candidates go through on their exam day, beyond just answering questions.

Extortion at the Centre

According to Saint-Alice, some security personnel demanded ₦500 from candidates who brought bags, claiming it was for bag-keeping.
This is highly unfair because:

  • JAMB does not authorize any payment at centers for keeping personal belongings.
  • Such demands put extra pressure on candidates, especially those who came with little or no extra money.
  • It increases stress before an already important exam.

Candidates are advised to always report any form of extortion to JAMB after their exams.

Poor Time Management

Despite arriving as early as 4:30AM, candidates had to wait for hours:

  • The exam that should have started much earlier only began some minutes after 7AM.
  • Long waiting periods under no clear communication can leave candidates tired, anxious, and frustrated even before the exam begins.

This delay could have been avoided with better center preparation and supervision.

Harsh Treatment by Officials

Saint-Alice also mentioned that some invigilators and center officials treated candidates harshly:

  • Using rough words and unkind attitudes.
  • Showing little care for the candidates’ welfare after all the waiting.

Candidates deserve respect and encouragement, not hostility, especially during such a sensitive and important time.

Final Words

Saint-Alice’s story shines a light on the need for better supervision, better treatment of candidates, and zero tolerance for illegal charges at CBT centers.
We hope JAMB and the relevant authorities will look into complaints like this and make future exam experiences better for everyone.
