JAMB 2025: “Today’s Exam Was Very Hard, Systems Were Hanging — Many Cried” — Samrat Shares Emotional Experience

A JAMB 2025 candidate, Samrat, has shared an emotional and painful experience after writing his UTME, describing how technical issues and a lack of support made an already tough exam even worse for many candidates.

“I wrote my JAMB exam today. It was very hard, especially Chemistry and Physics. So many people cried today because of how they were treated. Why can’t JAMB officials help people who don’t know how to operate the system? Some systems even hung. Imagine logging in and not accessing any questions because of how the system was hanging. Finally, when it opened, you see you have only 1 hour left to answer science subjects. It’s very bad, please,” he said.

Samrat’s experience highlights the emotional and technical struggles candidates face during what should be a fair and organized examination process.

Difficult Papers and Poor Support

According to Samrat:

  • Chemistry and Physics papers were very difficult, with complex questions that left many candidates overwhelmed.
  • No proper guidance was given to candidates who struggled with operating the computer system, especially first-time users.

Instead of getting calm support, many candidates felt abandoned and confused.

Technical Failures Made It Worse

Samrat explained that:

  • Some systems were hanging and freezing during the exam.
  • Some candidates couldn’t access their questions immediately after logging in.
  • By the time the system finally responded, precious time had been wasted, leaving candidates with only one hour to answer very heavy science papers.

This unfairly placed extra pressure on already stressed candidates, and many broke down in tears inside the hall.

A Call for JAMB to Improve the System

Samrat’s painful story shows why JAMB must:

  • Ensure better computer maintenance at all centres before exams start.
  • Train officials to assist candidates who are new to computer-based testing.
  • Protect candidates’ exam time — if a system hangs, candidates should get extra time to compensate for the lost minutes.

An exam that determines a student’s future should never be left to chance or poor preparation at CBT centres.

Final Words

To Samrat and every candidate who faced tough challenges today:
Your feelings are valid. Your struggles are real. You fought hard despite everything, and that strength is something to be proud of.

We hope JAMB will take these experiences seriously and work to ensure a better, fairer system for every future candidate.
Stay strong — your journey doesn’t end here!

  1. My exam took place on Thursday morning first batch and to be honest it was a terrible experience for me, my system was just hanging anyhow and when it finally steady I was left with and hour which I tried to manage with the four subjects. I was able to answer three questions paper and my last paper was English which I didn’t answered up to 15 questions before my system log me out with a 11 minute time. I taught the exam was supposed to be 2hrs complete not for system logging some people out even when they still have some more minutes left.
