The examination, which began on Thursday, April 24, is being held across 887 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres in Nigeria.

Over Two Million Candidates Participating

According to Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Head of Media and Publicity, the exam body is overseeing the testing of over 2 million candidates, including 501 visually-impaired candidates who are writing their exams in 11 specially designated centres.

The information was shared during a virtual dialogue session organized by the Education Writers Association of Nigeria (EWAN), themed:
“2025 UTME: Lessons from Mock Test and the Future of Tech-Driven Examination in Nigeria.”

JAMB’s Commitment to a Transparent Exam Process

Benjamin emphasized JAMB’s commitment to transparency, fairness, and digital excellence, noting that the board is taking extra steps to:

  • Monitor the entire exam process in real time
  • Prevent malpractice
  • Ensure candidates sit for the exam under uniform conditions

He also addressed the concern about candidates being posted to distant centres, clarifying:

“Candidates choose their preferred examination towns, and JAMB only assigns centres within those towns. We do not assign candidates to centres outside their selected examination towns.”

To promote better coordination, JAMB mandates that each examination town must have at least four centres, allowing candidates to be posted within reasonable distances.

JAMB Equal Opportunity Group (JEOG)

Chairman of the JAMB Equal Opportunity Group (JEOG), Professor Emeritus Peter Okebukola, also confirmed that visually impaired candidates are being supported adequately, with customized exam environments in 11 CBT centres across the federation.

He emphasized the board’s continued effort to make the exam inclusive, especially for candidates with special needs.

Looking Ahead

As the UTME continues, JAMB has reassured the public that it remains focused on:

  • Providing a safe and secure environment at each centre
  • Deploying medical personnel and technical support where needed
  • Ensuring candidates have equal opportunities to succeed

The 2025 UTME is expected to run until early May, with daily sessions holding in multiple batches at designated CBT centres.
