Kano Government Suspends April Sanitation Exercise to Support Smooth Conduct of JAMB 2025 Exams

The Kano State Government has officially suspended the April edition of its monthly environmental sanitation exercise to ensure that candidates writing the ongoing JAMB 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) are not disrupted during the nationwide exams.

This was confirmed by the Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Dr. Dahiru Hashim, through a statement issued by Ismail Gwammaja, the Director of Public Enlightenment at the ministry.

Why the Suspension?

The monthly sanitation exercise, usually held on the last Saturday of each month, involves partial movement restrictions to allow residents to clean their surroundings. However, with JAMB 2025 UTME in full swing, the government decided to suspend it temporarily so that:

• Candidates can move freely to their CBT centres
• There are no transportation delays or restrictions on the exam day
• The examination process runs smoothly without avoidable interruptions

“The suspension is aimed at preventing any potential disruptions to the examination process and ensuring that candidates can sit for their exams without any hindrance,” the statement read.

Sanitation Exercise to Resume in May

Dr. Hashim assured that the sanitation exercise will resume fully in May 2025, and used the opportunity to urge residents to:

• Continue maintaining hygiene
• Avoid indiscriminate waste disposal
• Cooperate with sanitation officials even during this suspension period

While this is a temporary measure, the state government called on the public to show understanding and support the efforts being made to promote both environmental health and educational progress.
