The release is scheduled to take place at 8:00 AM during a briefing at the board’s national headquarters in Bwari, Abuja. This marks the official unveiling of the long-awaited results for over 1.9 million candidates who sat for this year’s examination.

Over 1.5 Million Candidates Scored Below 200

Ahead of today’s result release, JAMB had earlier provided a statistical breakdown of the 2025 UTME performance. Out of the total 1,955,069 candidates who took part in the exam, more than 1.5 million scored below the 200-mark threshold. Only 420,415 candidates (21.5%) managed to score above 200, which is generally considered the minimum benchmark for admission into most Nigerian universities.

Additionally, just 756 candidates scored above 320, while 7,658 candidates scored between 300 and 319. This indicates a steep drop in the number of high scorers compared to previous years and has generated national conversations about the state of education and exam integrity in the country.

Underage Candidates and Malpractice Cases

This year’s UTME also featured a special inclusion: 40,247 underage candidates (below the official university admission age of 16) were allowed to sit for the exam to showcase their academic capabilities. However, only 467 of them, representing just 1.16%, met the “exceptional ability” benchmark set by JAMB. Their final eligibility will depend on their performance in the remaining stages of screening and examinations.

JAMB also reported that 97 candidates were directly linked to examination infractions and have had their results withheld. A further 2,157 candidates are currently under investigation for suspected malpractice. The board reaffirmed its commitment to upholding integrity through strict monitoring and advanced security protocols across all exam centers.
