Request for Resolution of Name Correction Issue
Dear JAMB Support, I am writing to formally request your assistance in resolving a critical issue regarding my name correction application, which has negatively impacted my academic and professional future.
On September 8th, 2022, I applied for a name correction on my JAMB profile to change my name from ETUKUDO, UBONG DAVID (incorrect) to ETUKUDO, DAVID IME (correct) in the order of Surname, First Name, and Other Names. Unfortunately, my application was rejected with the following reason: “Application for name correction on 2022-Sep-08 13:18:41 has been rejected, because it is contrary to your name correction data collected elsewhere.” The rejection was due to discrepancies between my JAMB record and the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) data at the time of application. I acknowledge that the error arose because my name update at NIMC had not been fully processed and reflected in their system before I applied to JAMB. To address this, I promptly corrected my name with NIMC, and their system now reflects the accurate name as ETUKUDO, DAVID IME. However, JAMB has informed me that I am no longer eligible to reapply for name correction, even though my initial application was rejected due to circumstances beyond my control. This situation is of utmost importance because: My academic records and certificates are tied to my JAMB profile, and the incorrect name ETUKUDO, UBONG DAVID is inconsistent with my official identity as recognized by NIMC and other legal documents. Failure to correct this discrepancy will prevent me from participating in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program after graduation. This inconsistency may also invalidate my degree certificate, as it will bear an incorrect name. I have made repeated efforts to resolve this issue, including submitting multiple complaints via http://www.jamb.gov.ng/support, but no positive resolution has been provided.
