“Are candidates permitted to bring money into the exam hall?”
The Answer: Yes, You Can Bring Money — But With Caution
Money is not listed among JAMB’s prohibited items, so candidates are allowed to carry cash on them. However, this doesn’t mean you can bring large amounts or wave it around carelessly.
That said, you are not expected to bring money into the actual CBT room — only your reprinted exam slip is required at your workstation.
What You Should Know:
- You can carry transport fare or small change for personal use after the exam
- If your centre has lockers or holding areas, you may be asked to drop your personal items, including money, outside the exam room
- Always keep your money safely in your pocket, not in a wallet or bag (since bags are not allowed)
What Not to Bring
While money is allowed, the following are strictly prohibited inside the hall:
- Phones
- Calculators
- Smartwatches
- Bluetooth devices
- Flash drives or any electronic gadget
- Wristwatches (in most centres)
- Bags, purses, or any item not listed on your JAMB slip
