Some JAMB candidates who discovered mistakes in the email address used during their registration are trying to solve the problem by creating a new Gmail account with the same wrong email.
However, as reported by Inyene Bassey Okon, some candidates are getting an error message from Google that says “username already taken by another person.”
Here’s what this means and what you can do.

Why You Cannot Create the Wrong Email Again
When JAMB officials mistakenly use the wrong email during your registration,
one possible solution is for you to quickly create a Gmail account matching that wrong email.
But if Google tells you “username already taken,” it simply means:
- Another person in the world already owns that Gmail address.
- You cannot recreate it again because Gmail addresses must be unique.
Once an email address is already used by someone, it can never be created again by another person.

What You Should Do Now
If you cannot create the wrong email address, here are your next steps:
- Do not panic.
- Focus on using your JAMB Registration Number or Phone Number when reprinting your exam slip or checking your results.
- You do not necessarily need the email for reprinting or for sitting for the examination.
- After the exam, if you still have issues logging into your JAMB portal, visit the nearest JAMB office or accredited CBT centre for help to update your email properly.
Many candidates are still able to write their exams successfully even without fixing the wrong email immediately.
Important Reminder
The most urgent task now is to:
- Reprint your examination slip,
- Know your exam date, time, and centre,
- Prepare well for the UTME starting Thursday, 24th April 2025.
You can correct or update your email properly after the examination if necessary.
Final Advice
If you cannot create the wrong email because it already belongs to someone else,
do not worry too much about it now.
Make sure you have your JAMB registration number, your exam slip printed,
and you are ready for your examination.
Solve the email issue calmly after you have finished writing your exam.
Stay focused, stay prepared.
I did mistake with my Gmail when was registering but now I created a new one with the same name but now I’m trying to reset my password they are not sending it to the Gmail why
Thanks for clarifying this
I’m in the situation too 😭
I need help to my Gmail is not working
How can I get my jamb registration number pls
I was in the same situation too last year and visited jamb center many times but it’s impossible to change the email so I created a new password by sending PASSWORD (wrong email address) to 55019 and they sent me new password for the email that works without limits and costs #50 as usual, so try it either before or after jamb.
